I’m Tired of Being Tired

Weekend Series: Power to Change

Do you have a verse that really resonates with you? One of my life verses is Galatians 6:9—“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Every day, the alarm clock goes off and the choices begin piling on. Do I want to get out of bed? Do I want to calmly and patiently walk downstairs and get the kids off to school? Do I want to do my exercises? When I wake up, unexcited to do all the things I have been doing for years and years, this verse encourages me to take on the day.

Many of you can probably relate. The mundane motions of your day can seem insignificant. The small things you do, like reading devotionals to your kids every night (even if they don’t appear to be listening) or making a quick visit to see grandma in the nursing home every week (even though she won’t remember you were there) seem like they don’t matter.

God’s word is full of promises, and when we allow the Holy Spirit to plant them deeply, our lives start to change. We start to care about what he cares about. We start doing the mundane things because we love ourselves and the people around us more and more. Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to stop doing what we know is good, and it follows with a promise of blessing. But what does that blessing look like right now?

God’s word can be like a treasure map—if you look and seek—you will find everything you need to live a Godly life. God has promised us he is making everything new, and if you have accepted Jesus, that means you too!

Soak in these truths that are your treasures right now!

You are God’s masterpiece, created to do good works (Ephesians 2:10).

You are wanted (John 17:24).

You are free from any condemnation (Romans 8:1).

You are a coworker with God, God’s field, God’s building (1 Corinthians :9).

You are Jesus’ friend (John 15:15).

These are only a very few of the blessings you get to enjoy right now. I invite you to dive more and more into this life with Jesus and allow good change to start happening in your life.

Making small 1% improvements through God’s power every day can lead to big changes.

Questions:
Do you know you are loved, accepted, and forgiven?

Is consuming the promises of God part of your daily routine so you do not grow weary of doing what is good?

Next Steps:
Find a trusted friend and start sending a text to each other every day, declaring one of God’s promises over your lives.

Ask God as you start each day to help you do what is good and right, even when you don’t feel like it.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, you know that without you, I am weak and fragile, easily giving in to what I want in the moment. Bless me with a fresh revelation of your power and your strength. Show me that you want to do a drastic work deep in my heart so the abundant life you promised starts to tangibly appear. Thank you for knowing me and being patient with me as I go through my day. Amen.

Series Theme Verse:

2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
