Stress! Can you relate? It’s something we all experience. It doesn’t matter whether our stressors are positive or negative; too much can make us feel like we are going to pop.
Our Stronger than Stress series aims to help us have honest and hopeful conversations about our struggles so that stress doesn’t define our lives. "Overwhelmed" doesn't have to be your norm.
Today, reflect on the following questions and focus on taking your stress to God instead of taking it out on those closest to you.
Discussion Questions:
Icebreaker: What has been causing you stress lately?
What are some typically unhealthy ways people try to manage their stress?
Read John 16:33. What do you learn about stress? What do you learn about Jesus? How does this verse impact your perspective on stress?
Consider 2 Timothy 1:7. How does this verse impact your response to stress?
How will you take your stress to God this week instead of taking it out on those closest to you?
Prayer:
Lord, although this life can feel crazy and out of control, I am grateful for the peace you offer. Each time I want to take my stress out on others, help me rest in you, remembering the power and peace you offer against the problems I face. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Ephesians 3:16-17
16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
