Weekend Series: Bad Boys of the Bible

DreamTeam Writer: Kelly Pagel

Saturday, June 8, 2024

This past week, we explored how unchecked insecurity can destroy our destiny. While it’s easy to try to take control of any given situation and attempt to force the outcomes we think are best, we are called to obey God and trust the consequences to him.

1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

This week, take time to review 1 Samuel 15 and 1 Peter 5:5-7. Then reflect on what insecurity looks like in comparison to humility before God. Look back on any notes you may have captured over the past few days and jot down any actions you took this week.

Where is God inviting you to humble yourself?

Prayer:
Lord, it is so easy to try to do things myself and operate out of pride, especially when I feel insecure. Help me to realize when I am prone to do this and, instead, surrender in obedience to you, trusting you have a good plan for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Series Theme Verse:
Psalm 37:3-4
3 Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
