Over the past week, we’ve been learning a lot about prayer. Prayer is a key way that we connect with God and it's easier than we think and more important than we realize. Having a specific time, a set place and a plan for prayer can be very helpful as we embark on this journey.
The campus pastors shared the PRAY acronym to provide structure during our time with God. Sharing our adoration and praise for who he is, repenting and releasing where we have missed the mark, as well as asking him to help us with the various situations in which we find ourselves should ideally all be part of this time as we seek to yield to his will in our lives.
Today, I invite you to carve out a few quiet moments to reread the verses that really spoke to you throughout the week. Some possibilities may include Matthew 6:7, Romans 8:15, and 1 John 1:9. Then look back on the notes you captured Sunday and reflect on the actions you took this week. Consider how you grew closer to God and his Holy Spirit through prayer.
You may consider making additional notes as you explore the following questions:
What did you learn about yourself this week? What did you learn about the Holy Spirit?
What is one thing that went well with your plan for prayer? What was challenging or difficult?
How can you continue to place your trust in God’s Holy Spirit rather than in yourself or the things around you?
Prayer:
Our Father in Heaven, holy is your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give me today my daily bread; forgive my sins as I forgive those who have sinned against me. Do not let me yield to temptation, but deliver me from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
John 14:26
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
