Weekend Series: At The Movies

Today, I encourage you to pause to consider how God has called you to help others in need and be a light.

As you begin, take a few moments to sit quietly before God. Set aside all distractions, close your eyes, and take a few slow, deep breaths. With each exhalation, give him your worries and concerns and let his peace wash over you.

Next, take some time to slowly read through Hebrews 12:1-3 and Matthew 5:3-12. Savor the words and consider the love God has for you and the people of this world.

What do you learn about God and his love for us? What do you learn about Jesus and how he cares for others?

Finally, consider recording your responses in a journal, whether digital or hardcopy. It's a great way to be able to look back on the adventure God has you on.

Prayer:
Father, you have given me gifts for a purpose, and I praise you for this. This week open my eyes to those in need, give me a heart for the broken hearted, and help me see others as you do. Give me the courage to step out in faith, realizing it won't always be worth it, but you will be right beside me every step of the way.  I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Discussion Questions:
Icebreaker: What is something you've seen or heard that set your heart on fire to help?

What holds people back from stepping up and helping others?

Read Hebrews 12:1-3. What do you learn about Jesus in these verses? What do you learn about your own purpose?

Share a time where you stepped into something you felt called to and it got hard. How did you respond to the challenge? How did things work out?

What is one step you can take toward the purpose God has for you?

Series Theme Verse:

Romans 1:20
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
