I am Small; God is Not

Sometimes I feel like I can’t accomplish anything. Nothing seems to go my way, and all my plans become ruined. I just feel stuck. Overwhelmed. Insignificant.

Humbled by the thought that I am just a speck of dust on this planet and only here for a short time, I turn to God, whose size is immeasurable. He fills this earth with his presence, his love, his grace, and his children.

Psalm 8:1
O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

I am small, but when I remember who I am in God—who he says I am—I feel 10 feet tall. He gives me the power to take on anything that crosses my path. Our God gives us strength when we are weak and courage when we are afraid. We can rely on him when we feel small and insignificant.

Before he became king, David was just a small shepherd boy. Everyone was afraid of the mighty Philistine champion, Goliath, but David’s faith led him to victory (1 Samuel 17). In front of the entire Philistine army, God gave David the strength and courage to defeat the giant.

That same strength and courage can be yours too when you submit your life to Christ. God wants us to live gloriously in his name.

So the next time you feel small or insignificant about anything that is going on in your life, remember whose you are. God loves you, and he wants you to live a life in his name so that you can share in his glory.

Philippians 4:13
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Anything is possible with God. He is the waymaker, our Father, and he always will be right beside us during our times of weakness, offering his strength and guiding our way.

Questions:
Have you ever felt stuck when something didn't go the way you planned? What did you do? Do you know who to turn to for help?

Next Steps:
Start your day reading Scripture. The Psalms are a good place to start. Keep attending weekend services and praising God who gives us strength.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for showing me how much I matter to you, no matter how small I feel myself. Without you, I can do nothing, but with you, all things are possible. Help me show those who are going through a rough time in their lives that you are the answer. You sent your son for us, and you love us so much that you want us to love each other. Show me how to help others find you and know your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
