New Testament Reading Plan: 1 John 1 & 2
Have you noticed how quickly life can change?
We all experience different seasons in our lives. Not just Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, but seasons of growth and grief, celebration and challenge.
The book of Ecclesiastes is a reflection on the meaning of life through the eyes of what most scholars believe was King Solomon. In summary, this Scripture highlights the importance of a God-centered life as the most worthwhile pursuit in our lives.
Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that life moves in seasons and can be full of change, but that even through change or challenges, each of these seasons has a purpose.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
Knowing this truth is only the beginning. The challenge comes in how we live it, especially in seasons of uncertainty or change.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-11
What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
We naturally welcome the changes that feel good, but spiritual maturity is seen when we respond faithfully to the ones that don’t. Living out Scripture means trusting his timing, responding with obedience, and choosing to reflect his heart, even when the changes you're experiencing are difficult.
Living out our faith in these ways bring God's Word to life, because the power of Scripture comes alive when it's not just heard but practiced (James 1:22).
Are you in a time of planting or a time of uprooting? A season of mourning or dancing? Whatever the moment, God's Word has something to say. He speaks encouragement in grief, wisdom in waiting, and joy in celebration.
In every season, find God’s reason.
Questions:
How do we face life’s changes with purpose? Ask yourself these three questions:
1. What change am I experiencing right now?
2. What is God trying to grow in me through it?
3. How can I trust Him more deeply in it?
Next Steps:
Take time today to reflect on what season you are in right now. Then, don’t just read his promises but respond to them.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for who you are in our lives, and thank you for loving us. We pray today that during the changes in our lives we can be reminded that you have a purpose for us. And although it may not always be easy, we can be reminded that you are in control in every season and in every change we go through. We love you, and in your name, we pray, Amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Psalm 85:8
I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways.
