Flashback Friday! Celebrating 30 Years of Messages That Inspire!

Church Community: Lori Tuckerman

Friday, November 21, 2025

“Designed to be inspiring, our services are loaded with creativity, honesty, celebration, laughter, and sometimes even tears. We use video, drama, contemporary music, and worship to complement the Biblical message of the day. We talk about the issues you face every day and help you connect God’s wisdom to your life. We hope that it challenges you to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.”
(CedarCreek printed program, Spring 2006)

Nearly twenty years later, those words still capture the heartbeat of CedarCreek Church. Though the tools, technology, and methods have evolved over time, the intention behind weekend services has remained remarkably consistent: create environments where people can encounter Jesus in a way that feels personal, relevant, and life-changing.

From funny to fun to deeply serious, each weekend is intentionally designed to point people to Jesus. Series themes shift with the seasons, but the mission stays the same—introducing people to Jesus and the life-changing adventure with Him.

Over the years, services have taken different forms. Some included live dramas (watch one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSXMxQRp2gQwhile others were paired with bold, attention-grabbing campaigns—like the well-known sex-education series, My God Made Sex, that sparked conversation across Northwest Ohio.

And of course, some services have existed to celebrate meaningful moments in the church calendar—Preach Off, Halloweekend, Christmas, Easter, and so many others.

To “flash back” to a few series from 2006, here are two that stood out:

The Game of Life
This series invited attendees to explore the different ways we try to build “a good life”—including themes such as The Good Life, The Laid-Back Life, and The Guilt-Free Life.

What’s Up with That?
This three-week series asked questions many people quietly wonder about: Are angels and demons real? Do they affect our lives? What about miracles—does God still perform them today? It was an invitation to explore the supernatural with honesty and curiosity.

For three decades, teams of pastors, musicians, creatives, staff, and volunteers (the DreamTeam!) have poured their hearts into crafting services that inspire, challenge, and encourage people on their spiritual journey. Behind every message, every song, and every moment of worship is a team committed to helping people make sense of faith, the Bible, and their God-given purpose.

That’s what it’s always been about—from the very beginning until now.

And as we celebrate 30 years as a church, we’re filled with gratitude for the lives changed and excitement for all God has yet to do. The story isn’t finished, and we can’t wait to see how God continues to use CedarCreek to create life-giving community and help people take steps on the adventure with Jesus.
