In the midst of our journey, it's easy to encounter hurdles that make us want to throw in the towel. Life, with its twists and turns, presents us with challenges that can often seem insurmountable. But as we explore our faith and purpose, we are led to remind ourselves to keep our focus on Jesus. It's in our response to obstacles that our faith is tested and we refine our journey to find and live out our purpose.
Each of us have experienced this at one time or another. We can all recall a time when we felt utterly overwhelmed with doubt and frustration, when the pursuit of a dream seemed impossible, and each step forward was met with two steps backward. The hurdles were constant, and the temptation to give up loomed large.
Jesus stands as the unwavering anchor in the tumultuous race of life, providing stability amidst uncertainty and hope amid adversity. He is the constant, unshakable force that steadies our steps and guides us through all of life's challenges. His example encourages us to continue moving forward on our own journeys and reminds us of the ultimate prize awaiting us at the finish line.
Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
When faced with obstacles, it's not about avoiding them but about our response. It's about choosing the hard that aligns with our purpose and leaning into it. Just as Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before him, let us endure our trials, fixing our eyes on the ultimate prize—eternity with God.
