2 Timothy 2:20-21
20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

Andy’s weekend message highlighted that our adventure begins when we embrace God’s calling and align our hearts with his purpose. From there, the Spirit guides us on a journey of transformation, becoming more like Christ through refining experiences.

We are not just ordinary tools. We are chosen and refined by God for his plan, each of us having a unique significance to our existence. Our lives are divinely intentional.

Our connection with Christ is established when we admit our imperfections and allow him to shape how we interact with distractions in society. Embracing our relationship with him empowers us to approach these situations with humility and grace.

God knows we will stumble and tarnish, yet his love and grace remain constant. Just as a skilled artisan is ready to polish and restore a valuable utensil to its former glory, God is waiting to cleanse us from our impurities, shine us up, and make us sharp and new again.

The purpose behind our existence guides the contributions we make. Or as Andy put it: Your why determines your what.

Your whyunderstanding your purpose—ensures you are aligned with God’s plan, and that your actions are meaningful and significant.

  • Loving God becomes the heartbeat of our existence, fueling our desire to seek him, know him, and walk with him. This love spills into every aspect of our lives, shaping our interactions, attitudes, and priorities.
  • Serving others flows naturally from our love for God. Every opportunity to meet the needs of others becomes a sacred privilege, reflecting the love of Christ to a broken and hurting world.
  • Making disciples becomes our mission. It's about imparting the life-changing truth of God's Word and walking alongside others as they grow in their faith.

When your why is rooted in loving God, serving others, and making disciples, your whatthe actions and contributions you make—aligns with God's plan. Then, it is not about striving to achieve recognition or success by worldly standards. It is faithfully stewarding the gifts, talents, and opportunities entrusted to you for the glory of God and the advancement of his Kingdom.

Questions:
How can we discern our unique purpose in God's plan amidst the noise of our technological age?

Share a time when understanding your purpose influenced your actions and decisions in a significant way.

Next Steps:
Take time this week to reflect on your why. Consider journaling to reflect on how you believe God is calling you to use your passions and gifts for his Kingdom.

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for crafting me with purpose and intentionality. Help me to understand my “why,” so that my “what” aligns with your will. Help me to strive for purity and readiness, eagerly anticipating the ways you will use me for every good work. In Jesus' name, amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
