Throughout this past week, we explored the importance of relationships in public, social, personal, and intimate settings. When we look at Jesus’ life we see that he interacted with people in all of these realms, and as his followers, we are to imitate him. God designed us for community and the quality of our friendships impacts the progress of our spiritual growth. Our friends affect our walk with God.
Today, I invite you to carve out a few quiet moments to reread the verses that really spoke to you this week. Some possibilities include Hebrews 13:1-2 or James 5:16. Then look back on any notes you may have captured over the past few days and reflect on the next steps you took this week.
You may consider making additional notes as you explore the following questions:
How is the quality of your relationships?
Do you have connections in the four places of belonging (public, social, personal, intimate)?
Are your friends fueling or fighting your progress?
21 Days of Prayer: Day 20—Growth (Ephesians 4:15)
Today’s Prayer Focus: For Growth
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am not who I was before I met you—and it’s all because of you. Thank you for the growth I have been through, and I’m grateful that you’re not finished with me yet! Teach me to be more and more like your Son every day. Help me to submit humbly to the situations you use to change my heart, even when I wouldn’t choose them for myself. Above all else, may I grow in love for you and for others. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
