This past week, we explored the idea of Jesus’ amazing grace. A grace that the Pharisees and religious teachers of their time couldn’t comprehend.
When Jesus came to earth, people had to atone for their sins through sacrifice. Today, we can get caught in the trap of feeling like we need to earn forgiveness, or collect enough good deed “tickets” for God to accept us.
But Jesus came to save us from all of that. When you place your faith in Christ, your sins are forgiven. When God looks at you, he sees Christ’s perfection—that is the Good News!
Today, I invite you to carve out a few quiet moments to reread the verses that really spoke to you this week and rest in the peace and joy of the Gospel. Some possibilities may come from last weekend’s message, such as Ephesians 2:8-9 or Romans 6:14. Look back on any notes you may have captured over the past few days and reflect on the actions you took this week.
You might enjoy worshiping with Amazing Grace as you recall the grace God offers to you through Christ. If you haven't begun memorizing Ephesians 2:8-9, consider making that a goal for this series. Not because memorizing it will earn you a "ticket" with God, but so that you have this truth imprinted on your heart.
Do you struggle to accept God’s grace? What is one thing you could do each day to remind yourself of the Father’s love for you?
Prayer:
God, thank you for loving me! Thank you for sending Jesus as there is no other way I could have a relationship with you. When I get off track and think I have to be good enough or earn your love, remind me of your amazing grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Series Theme Verse:
Romans 6:14
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
