Title: The Turn
Jonah 3
Bottom Line: Every TURNAROUND starts with TRUST.
Evangelism: showing and telling others how trusting Jesus changes everything.
Evangelism Styles
Confrontational - sharing the gospel on the spot with anyone. Typically practiced by people with the gift of evangelism.
Examples: Peter at Pentecost; Phillip with the eunuch; Apostle Paul
Invitational - focuses on leveraging an event, service, or small group to introduce people to Jesus.
Example: Jesus with Andrew - "come and see"
Testimonial - sharing your personal experience with God as a way of introducing people to Jesus. Even though a believer may not have all of the right theological answers, they can attest to God's grace in their life.
Example: John 9, man born blind - "I was blind but now I see"
Relational - through consistent presence in people's lives. Over time, the Christian life bears witness to Christ, and opportunities to share faith occur.
Example: Paul and Silas in prison
Intellectual - appealing to the intellectual basis of Christianity. It is apologetic in nature.
Example: Paul at Mars Hill - Acts 17
Service - helping others in tangible ways. The gospel lived out in service opens doors for Christians to share the reason why they serve.
Example: Jesus feeding 5000 ; Matthew 5:16
Luke 15:7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
